I've loaded 150g bullets in one of my No1 Mk3 rifles for quite some time. It's a 1921 Lithgow that was refurbished in 1945 and it's my go to shooter. I've used Speer, Sierra and Hornady soft points as well as locally made Australian Taipan hollow points (now out of production). All of them have shot decent groups with a similar point of impact. All are flat base bullets which may also help with accuracy at the shorter ranges I've used them. My initial load was 39g or ADI AR2206 which my chronograph averaged out at 2444 ft/s for my rifle. AR2206 was discontinued and replaced by AR2206H. AR2206H is sold in the US by Hodgdon as H4895. I now use 40g of AR2206H. I've never encountered high pressure signs and I get good case life but the current ADI data lists 40 grains as a *MAXIMUM* load. Other manuals go up to 42 grains but please be sensible and work your own loads up for YOUR rifle. I've only ever shot this load out to 300 yards with standard military open sights. Up to that range, it has always performed well. My mate uses the same load in a scoped a No1 Mk3 sporter which groups a bit over an inch at 100 yards with the Taipan 150g hollow points. I've used this load for hunting wild pigs where most shots are taken at 150 yards or less and it has never let me down. For longer range target shooting, the 174 - 180 grain bullets are a better choice. I also had to fit a +030 front sight blade to my rifle to bring 150g loads back to the correct zero. Unless you want reach way out there, 150g bullets will suffice for most of your needs, and with less recoil.
