Reloading .303 British : Most favourable powder for 150g "Hunting Load"?

However on my way home in the car the brown stuff hit the fan! A good friend phoned and said that he wanted me out culling a load of Red Deer with him today so I had to rush home and start working on various loads to test. The Data gave me quite a tollerance with BL-C(2) running from 43g (Min) up to 48g (Max) so I started with 4 rounds at 44g then did another 4 at 45g, another 4 at 46g and another 4 at 47g - All set at the same OAL which I had measured already and was right on the maximum OAL given in the Hodgedons Data - See attached photo!

Test firing to check for grouping showed that the group was about 1.5 inches at 100 yards with the 44g and closed up to 1 inch with the 45g and then started to marginally open out again with the 46g so I didn't bother trying the 47g loads. I should add that while I was test firing it was raining and misty so I was experiencing a little difficulty seeing the target clearly and I might have been able to shoot marginally better in clear dry conditions but a 1 inch group at 100 yards was good enough for me for the time being.

With this in mind i settled for the the 45g load and knuckled down to loading 40 rounds to take with me today. I am told that we are hoping to take out up to 40 beasts today between us so I dont expect to use all of this ammunition. Hopefully I will be able to give a full write up of how we got on when I get back tonight tonight along with some video footage or photos (If I am allowed to take any at this location) However right now I have to make a flask of coffee up as I am due to leave shortly!,
