Hi guys, Just a quick question?
I just tried to measure the length of the chamber for my 1943 No4 Longbranch. What I did was to put a bullet in a case head that was a bit loose, chambered it slowly for the bullet to touch the rifling, closed the bolt and then got the round back. Then I measured the round.....overall length... and came with something like 3.150 (!!!!) with a Hornady 150gn SP (.312) while Hornady recommends 2.995. (The case length was 2.215)
I mean, if I seat my bullet at 3.150, the bullet is barely inside the case head !!! Is that making any sense?? Shall I increase my bullet length (seat the bullet less deep into the case) to take advantage of the (more than generous) chamber?? Is there any risk?? Can that have any impact on accuracy?
Cheers.
